Dr. Michael M. Reinhard is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Film and Media at Emory University. Dr. Reinhard has published research in Television & New Media, Feminist Media Histories, Velvet Light Trap, Transformative Works and Cultures, Feminist Media Studies, The Films of Susan Seidelman, and Intersectional Feminist Readings of Comics. Future work is slated to appear in American Quarterly and The Drama Review. Currently, he is developing his research monograph Queer Contagions: Global Cultures of Popular Queerness and Anti-Queerness in the Algorithmic Era to explore the impact of the internet on LGBTQ+ media, as well as how algorithms have shaped anti-queer backlash politics online. This project draws on his expertise in global platform economies, gender & sexuality, digital/social media, and media industry approaches to cultural history.
